British Lithium is the only lithium mine developer with in-house metallurgical research laboratory in UK.
British Lithium's Lithium project
Following years of metallurgical research & development, extensive ground mapping, geophysics and 3D modelling in Q2 2019 British Lithium completed its maiden lithium drilling programme in Cornwall. 6 Reverse Circulation holes were drilled with a maximum depth of 201.5 m. Hole 1 on 30 April 2019 was the first Lithium exploration hole ever drilled in the United Kingdom; discovering broad intercepts of potentially economic Cornish lithium micas from surface to depth.
A phase 2 HQ3 diamond core drilling programme of four holes drilled in December 2019, provided cores for metallurgical research, variability analysis, lithological, density and other testwork.
The company is now further developing its metallurgical laboratory in Cornwall with the addition of beneficiation, pyro-metallurgical and hydro-metallurgical equipment - a first of its kind in the UK
Over the years the founding partners of British Lithium have worked on successfully implementing resource projects. We don't just "Pump and Dump", we research, design, build and operate.
Recently, Cominco merged with Kropz and maintaining the title Kropz, the group (AIM:KRPZ) raised £27.3 million (US$35 million) upon listing on the London Stock Exchange's junior market.
Our goal is to build an integrated lithium mine, beneficiation plant and refinery initially to produce 20,000 tpa of Cornish lithium hydroxide – enough to support production in UK of 350,000 EVs per year, giving UK a strategic advantage over Europe.
With its strong leadership, British Lithium has access to capital and depth of talented consultants and in-house expertise. We have led exploration, extensive metallurgical testwork programmes and feasibility studies alone costing over $200 million, and projects with development capital of over $1 billion.
As mine operators, we understand the critical importance of a strong owner’s team responsible for evaluation and planning. This runs from exploration data management, metallurgical testwork through to piloting, process development and design, to construction supervision; with stakeholders engaged at every stage. We are interested in lithium, cobalt, nickel, manganese, graphite, bromine, zinc and vanadium.
British Lithium holds exploration rights over much of Cornwall and Devon’s most prospective ground including former clay mining areas. We are putting this to good use by drilling the UK’s first lithium exploration hole, discovering broad intercepts of Cornish lithium mica.
